This is a brief summary pertaining to incident #24014171:

On Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at 11:42 A.M., Somerville Police Control received a call from Target Loss Prevention reporting two individuals leaving the Target store with a cart full of merchandise.

Sgt. Messaoudi, who was nearby, responded to the call. Upon arrival, he spoke with the reporting party from the Target Loss Prevention Office (XXXX), who informed him about a male and female shoplifter leaving the store with a shopping cart and heading towards a gray Honda parked adjacent to a white vehicle.

Sgt. Messaoudi identified the male as Christopher Isiah, who was placing Target shopping bags in the trunk of the gray Honda, registered to XXXX with Massachusetts license plate XXXX. The female, later identified as Daveyon Tatum, was sitting in a black Ford Fusion bearing Massachusetts license plate XXXX and conversing with Isiah through the window. Isiah was approached by the Sergeant and informed about the report from Target.

Upon my arrival at the scene, along with Officer Barton, Tatum exited her vehicle and approached the officers, denying any wrongdoing. Speaking with Loss Prevention employee XXXX, I learned that Isiah and Tatum had selected merchandise and proceeded to the self-checkout. While Tatum scanned some items, Isiah was observed placing un scanned items in bags. Despite XXXX offer of assistance, the two left the store without paying, with stolen items valued at $416.57.

Isiah was requested to open the trunk, and upon compliance, all bags were retrieved and returned to the store. Both Isiah and Tatum were asked to accompany us to the loss prevention office for identification and issuance of trespass notice. While Isiah complied, Tatum refused.

I placed Tatum in handcuffs and informed her that she was under arrest. Officer Barton placed Isiah in handcuffs and informed him that he was under arrest. Subsequently, both defendants were transported to Somerville Police headquarters by Officer M. Canty and booked for Larceny under $1200 by Lieutenant Capasso.

I would like to note that Tatum's vehicle, MA REG #XXXX was parked in the middle of the Target parking lot, blocking other vehicles from leaving. To prevent a tow, Tatum asked a random passer by to move her vehicle into a parking spot. I did not think this would be in the best interest of Tatum, as she was leaving her keys and vehicle to a person she did not know and was not known to us. Further more Tatum has been trespassed from the property as well. Approved by Sgt. Messaoudi I requested Stephen's Towing to respond and tow the vehicle.

Respectfully submitted,

Officer Thomas Lambert
