On Friday, July 12, 2024, I, Officer Pavao, was assigned to marked unit East 3. While on a motor vehicle stop at the intersection of Pearl Street and Delaware Street, both public ways in the city of Somerville, I exited my police cruiser to hand the operator a Massachusetts Uniform Citation and his license and registration back. I observed a blue Honda SUV travel from the right-turn-only lane straight onto Pearl Street in my direction. I stepped out onto the road and motioned for the vehicle to pull over, which it did. I then walked up to the vehicle, explained the reason for the stop, and asked for the operator's license and the registration of the motor vehicle. The operator told me that he did not have his license on him but would give me his license number and name. He said his name was Deandre SINGLETARY and told me his license number. I then advised him to pull in front of the vehicle that I had previously stopped. I went back into my cruiser and ran SINGLETARY in the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) database, and was alerted that SIGNLETRAY had an outstanding warrant for his arrest (Docket Number:2402CR000826). I then informed Somerville Police Control about the warrant and they confirmed it. I ran the vehicle registration (MA REG XXXX) through CJIS database, and the results showed that the vehicle's registration was expired/non-renewable. Officer W. Collette, Lorenti, Fusco, Haley, Detective Collazo, and Cicerone also responded to assist.
Officers walked up to the vehicle, and I asked SINGLETARY to step out because he had a warrant. He stepped out and was placed into custody, and Unit 200 was requested to transport SINGLETARY back to the Somerville Police Headquarters to be booked in the usual manner by the shift commander Lt. Capasso.
I then explained to the two other passengers, XXXX and XXXX, who will be referred to as JV1 from here on out, that the vehicle was going to be towed due to being unregistered on a public way. They both exited the car and walked away a short time later.
Officers then began to inventory the motor vehicle before towing it, which is part of our policy. During the inventory, Officer Lorenti located a black satchel on the passenger side floor of the back seat containing a black firearm. Refer to Officer Lorenti's supplemental report for further. Also in the back passenger side floor was a large "Kiwi Margarita Cannabis Flower" bag containing 8 individually packaged marijuana bags.
Detective Cicerone began to inventory the driver's side of the vehicle and located a black Reebok shoulder bag with a black wallet containing Deandre SINGLETARY's Massachusetts driver's license, various bank cards, $220 in cash, a plastic bag containing a white rocklike substance believed to be crack cocaine weighing approximately 30 grams, refer to Detective Cicerone supplemental report for further.
Based on the items found in the bag belonging to SINGLETARY which included his driver license, I will be charging SINGLETARY with Cocaine, Trafficking in- over 14 grams. (94C/s32e)
The firearm recovered was a loaded Glock 45 (YUW770) containing 13 rounds of ammunition. At the time of the incident, the gun was not reported stolen in the CJIS database.
A Massachusetts Uniform Citation (1312014) was placed into SINGLETARY prisoner property bag for the following:
-89/4a Marked Lanes Violation
-90/11 License Not in Possession
A Massachusetts Uniform Citation (1312015) was mailed to the owner of the motor vehicle, XXXX, for:
-90/9 Unregistered Motor Vehicle
Detective Collazo photographed the evidence in the motor vehicle. All items were taken and will be entered into evidence.
Respectfully submitted,
Officer Brian Pavao, #318
