On July 12, 2024, I, Officer McAloney, was assigned to marked unit East-4. At approximately 9:37 PM, I was dispatched to 90 Summer St. #1 for a report of an assault. Officer Campers, (East-3) responded as back up.

On scene, officers were met by the victim Mr. XXXX. XXXX stated he had just been attacked by his downstairs neighbor. He went onto say he was cleaning his apartment when he walked into the kitchen and noticed Mr. Dejan SKODRIC standing inside. SKODRIC then began cussing and yelling at XXXX that he needed to respect him and that XXXX doesn't know who he is.

SKODRIC then got behind XXXX and put him in a choke hold with his forearm. XXXX was able to free himself by dropping to the ground however, SKODRIC then put him in another choke hold. XXXX stated "I could not breath for five to ten seconds, he tried to kill me". At some point, SKODRIC kicked XXXX in the butt, punched him in the head, pulled his hair, and then wrapped his palm around his neck stating "I will be back tomorrow to do the same thing".

XXXX stated his door was shut and that SKODRIC does not have any business being in his apartment. SKODRIC lives in the basement apartment of 90 Summer St. and XXXX lives in the 1st floor apartment, two separate entrances.

When asked why SKODRIC would do this, XXXX stated he does not know. He does not talk to him but he believes he had been drinking tonight due to smelling alcohol on his breath. He also stated that about three years ago he worked for SKODRIC therefore, he might have some animosity towards him about finding a new job.

Officers then went to the basement apartment to attempt to speak with SKODRIC. SKODRIC opened the door in just boxers and was sitting on the bed which was approximately a foot from the entrance. Officers attempted to have SKODRIC put pants on however, he wanted the door shut while he did so. Due to officer safety we explained that we were going to keep the door open. The several times officers asked SKODRIC to put clothes on and come speak with us he refused and just laughed. SKODRIC finally stated that he did not do anything. I explained to SKODRIC the allegations made by XXXX. SKODRIC stated that he never saw him today.  At one point, I explained to SKODRIC that I was going to place him under arrest. SKODRIC still remained by his bed side, stating we needed a warrant. At this time, I placed SKODRIC in custody.

During my interaction with SKODRIC I smelt an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath. A half full, glass bottle of Bud Light Lime was also on the table located at the entrance of SKODRICs apartment.

XXXX declined medical attention. Based on the facts that were presented to me, SKODRIC was placed under arrest for the charges of:

c265 S13A, A&B

c265 S15D, Strangulation or Suffocation

c266 S16, B AND E Nighttime for Felony

c275 S2, Threat to Commit Crime (A&B, Strangulation or Suffocation, and B AND E Nighttime for Felony)

Unit 200, operated by Officer Ribeiro, was requested to transport SKODRIC back to Somerville Police Headquarters, where he was booked in the usual manner by Lt. DeOliveira.

Respectfully,

Officer Keighla McAloney
