1 count SHOPLIFTING BY ASPORTATION

On Friday, July 12, 2024, at approximately 10:50 AM, I, Officer Joseph Rivera, while in full uniform and working as East 1, responded to Stop and Shop, 779 McGrath Hwy, for a shoplifter. Officer Pavao, East 3, and Sergeant VanNostrand also responded.

Somerville Dispatch informed the responding units that the suspect was aggressive with employees and was walking towards Speedway on McGrath Hwy while holding 2 bags.

On arrival, the witness, now known to me as XXXX, pointed towards the suspect who was wearing a black shirt, black shorts, and white shoes. I observed the suspect, now known to me as Nicole Goroshko, walking away in a fast pace while holding a purse and a shopping bag. I stopped Ms. Goroshko and requested to speak to her. Ms. Goroshko immediately became aggressive and refused to speak to me. After several attempts to communicate with Ms. Goroshko, and try to retrieve the stolen items that were in her purse, she refused to comply and slammed her belongings onto the ground. At this point I handcuffed Ms. Goroshko, double locked, and informed her that she was under arrest for shoplifting.

Ms. Goroshko was transported to the station, via 200, that was operated by Officer Anaya, and booked in the usual manner by Sergeant Messaoudi.

While Ms. Goroshko was being transported to the station, Mr. XXXX informed me that at approximately 10:20 AM, while conducting floor surveillance, he observed Ms. Goroshko concealing multiple items, with a total value of $376.21, in a purse and reusable shopping bag. He stated that he observed Ms. Goroshko walking past all points of sale, failing to pay for the merchandise, and stopped her at the pharmacy exit. He stated he was able to retrieve the stolen items that were in the shopping bag but was unsuccessful in retrieving the stolen items in the purse. He stated that Ms. Goroshko became aggressive and refused to return the rest of the unpaid items. At this point he requested the police to respond.

A picture of the list of stolen items will be uploaded to this report.

Respectfully submitted,

Officer Joseph Rivera #309
