House Fire on Bond Street

On Tuesday, June 22nd, at 1:20 AM, SPD/SFD responded to a house fire at 17 Bond St. On arrival, officers found the front of the house on fire. Officer Lambert kicked in the front door and with Officers Garcia, Costa, and Brown entered the common hallway to evacuate the residents. Sgt. Marino who was on Bond Street shielding onlookers from fallen live electrical wires also alerted officers within the residence that the fire had grown quickly to include the entire front porch. All officers managed to evacuate all residents safely seconds before the entire front of the residence was engulfed in flames. As a result, nine residents were displaced from their homes.

A tenant on the second floor of the house stated to reporters that he would not be alive if it were not for the life-saving actions of Somerville Police Officers and Firefighters present.
