The National Law Enforcement Museum recognized the Somerville Police Department and the Center for Teen Empowerment as one of five communities who is working hard to strengthen the relationship between law enforcement and the people it serves. The museum will open its doors to the public October 13, 2018 in Washington, DC., for this temporary exhibition featuring five communities across the nation.

Somerville has been invited to see the exhibition which opens in October 2018. The museum features educational programs and an insightful look on law enforcement topics from the past , present, and future. Attendees will have an opportunity to walk through time and glimpse through the changes in law enforcement. The five communities chosen for this exhibition include Charleston, Cleveland, Dallas, Oakland, and Somerville. The Somerville Police Department is deeply honored to participate in this temporary exhibition. This honor would not be possible if not for the collaboration and strong relationship the Somerville Police have with community partners like the Center for Teen Empowerment and so many others in the City of Somerville.

This summer the Somerville Police and the Center for Teen Empowerment have teamed up again for the Walking Dialogues. The Walking Dialogues allows Police and Youth to walk the streets of Somerville and have community members engage in productive dialogue with law enforcement.
