The Beyond the Call of Duty Award goes to Denise Ortega

Recently, the Somerville Police Department website was revamped and Denise was an instrumental party in developing and launching the site. Beyond her normal duties as an IT specialist, she has participated in numerous department programs and events. For example, she worked really hard at recruiting officers to participate in the Mindfulness program, she has voluntarily attended many public events throughout the city, engaging and interacting with the public beyond normal expectations. She fixes and handles system crashes, assists with detective investigations, responds to technical complaints and requests from department personnel. Lastly, she does it all with a big infectious smile and grace that inspires the rest of us. Denise goes above and beyond the call of duty daily and should be recognized for her efforts.
